Puffin Proxy documentation
Puffin Proxy is a macOS app for inspecting and debugging HTTP(S) traffic. It sits between your apps and the network, records each request and response, and lets you look at them in a table and an inspector.
Most proxy tools need you to point every app at them. Puffin uses a macOS Network Extension instead, so the apps you choose are captured without any proxy settings.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”- Captures traffic from the apps you choose, with no proxy settings.
- Reads HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2 and WebSocket, and decrypts HTTPS for the hosts you list.
- Shows each request in a table, with an inspector for the details.
If Puffin is not running, your traffic goes straight through, so quitting it does not cut your network.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”- New here? Follow Getting started to install, approve the extension and trust the certificate.
- Choosing what to capture: Choosing what to capture.
- Seeing inside HTTPS: HTTPS and the certificate.
- Reading a request: The inspector.
- Something is wrong: Troubleshooting.
Puffin Proxy needs macOS 15 or later and is built for Apple silicon.
